Lanseria Boarding Kennels and Cattery, Newly built, elite kennels, totally roofed, on hectares of farmlands.
We are a farm setup, very newly opened in the North of JHB. Relocated from the South of Jhb – Daleside Boarding Kennels. I have worked in our original boarding kennels since the age of ten, and then owned Walkerville Boarding Kennels, and then both.
I am now based 7 kms north of the Lanseria Airport on Malibongwe Rd/Pelindaba Road. We aim to be a ‘boarding farm’, where dogs can come and run for hours of the day, per family, or with others in a larger area. We want it to be a “holiday farm” for your pets, not ‘boarding Kennels’… A big difference between those two phrases.
We have elite under cover kennels, but also have the space and the ability to allow all dogs time to run, get covered in mud if they are so inclined, have a ball, then go back to their suite, relax, chew a chew, and recharge. Of course we cater for every need and age and type of dog, so all routines are suited around the fur-clients. We have a few garden chalets, for larger families, or if u wish ur dog to share with others. The garden kennels are 20m*20m with brick chalets, with underfloor heating, windows and verandah overlooking the farm.
Owner run, extensive knowledge of dogs and their needs and behaviourisms, to give ur dog a good holiday, not have a million rules and constraints. All we require is that your annual vaccines are up to date; vaccinated within the year of entering our premises, de-wormed within THREE months, else I will do this on entrance to your minimal cost. Also parasite control must be addressed before entering. If the furkids are not treated before entering, I will dip or powder the dog, protection to yourselves/your dogs/cats and myself/property. This will again be charged for minimally.
You can tell me you dogs/cats/any other pets needs, and they will be catered for, within reason. I feed hi quality dog foods, but not every type. I serve meals twice a day, with vegetable and minced meat gravy. Cats get Royal Canin dry food, and various wet foods. As we are owner-run, I myself will see what your furkid eats/doesn’t eat, and will mould change accordingly.
We live on the property, there are people on hand 24/7. I also breed Labradors and Golden Retrievers, so have extensive canine medical knowledge, to pick up changes in tummies/wellbeing etc.
Any comfort is welcomed with your dog, these can however be mixed up with my things, in the laundry etc. Bedding, Toys, flat screens, sound-systems are all welcome each kennel has a plug, to accommodate infra-red lights if need mainly . But we will bend over backward to accommodate your pets’ needs.
I do have a card machine on the premises for ease of upfront payment. We are open Monday – Saturday 8am-10am and 4-5pm. If however u are travelling from Lanseria Airport, I will try to accommodate times. Rates differ through-out the year, also discounts are given for frequency of use, longer stays, and large families.
About Sharron Brown:
Sharron Brown, born 1973 in UK, Bath, immigrated to South Africa at 7yrs of age; my mother was an avid dog lover, and started working for the Alberton SPCA in 1982, and she started breeding German Sheherds in 1984. We constantly knew what it meant to come second to the dogs & planning life around the dogs. Being the only kid, I had alot of work to do to help aswell!! 1987 we moved from a house, to a small holding south of Alberton, Randvaal. Where we could take our 11 horses and many more dogs, still mainly focused on the German Shepherd at this stage. Dalesdie Boarding Kennels and Cattery was an existing kennel, and I was thrown in to work during school holidays. This is where the boarding bug bit.
At 16 I got MY first OWN dog, a Golden Retriever, this plunged the Simaxdal Breeding name into a quandary, slowly the Golden Retriever squeezed out the German Shepherd, and we became Golden Retriever breeders, sidelined with a few pugs and miniature dachshunds, smooth haired. A few years on, Boerboels came into being, and we bred, as well as exported numerous Boerboels. But it was only two generation lived, and we stopped the Boerboels, pugs were one generation bred, and the smooth haired daxies also stopped, as the market seemed to be flooded then.
I then moved onto to travel Europe and worked mostly accounting based employment around the world and SA, then decided to take over from my slowly greying mother
I then moved on, grew a family, and moved to Lanseria, where Gordon Loxton built five star boarding kennels, and breeding kennels, for the Conkasha Labradors, Golden Retrievers and Miniature smooth haired Dachshunds. We are situated on the R512 Pelindaba/Lanseria Road, on 400 hectare of stunning land, within Oori Nature Reserve. Close to Fourways/Roodepoort/Randburg and Hartesbeespoort Dam/Pta.
I breed chocolate Labradors mainly, but have a couple of yellow and black breeding adults, and I have a few Golden Retrievers still, and 10 miniature smooth haired Dachshunds that I breed with.
I still ride on the occasion that I have time, showing the dogs has taken over all of our lives for 2014 – we shall see what 2015 holds
